Utrecht Marathon 2026 - finish

On Sunday, May 31, Utrecht was all about sport: the Utrecht Marathon, with the Utrecht Science Park serving as both the start and finish location, brought together thousands of enthusiastic runners and spectators.

Throughout the morning, athletes prepared for their races. As the day progressed, the sun gradually broke through the clouds, creating an additional challenge for participants. Starting at 8:30 a.m., runners set off in different groups. The course combined Utrecht’s green surroundings with its historic city centre, while large crowds of enthusiastic spectators lined the route.

Dutch Half Marathon Championships

For the 42nd edition of the HiPRO Utrecht Marathon, the Dutch Half Marathon Championships were added to the programme. This created a unique combination of elite athletics and recreational sport in the heart of Utrecht.

In the men’s race, Bas van Hoof became Dutch Champion with a time of 1:04:16. In the women’s race, Tineke Heuveling crossed the finish line first in a time of 1:19:32.

Marathon Distance

The men’s Utrecht Marathon was won this year by Yannick van Hoof. The Belgian completed the 42 kilometres and 195 metres in and around Utrecht in 2 hours, 34 minutes and 23 seconds. Van Hoof held a narrow lead at the finish line at Utrecht Science Park over Maarten Mellema from Sneek. Third place went to Utrecht resident and regular participant Alex Da Conceicao Frederico, who completed the marathon in his home city in 2:36:30.

In the women’s race, Jasmijn Sibma claimed victory in front of her home crowd. The Utrecht native recorded a winning time of 2:55:33. Fleur van den Broek finished second, while Lotus van Cooten secured third place with a time of 3:17:57.

Together towards a healthy, sustainable society

We are proud that Utrecht Science Park once again served as the backdrop for this fantastic Utrecht sporting event. As the largest science park in the Netherlands, it is home to 31,000 employees and 55,000 students who work together every day towards a healthy, sustainable society.

A healthy lifestyle through sport and physical activity is an essential part of that mission, and all organisations at Utrecht Science Park fully support this ambition. Together with all our partners at Utrecht Science Park, we are already looking forward to next year’s edition.

Our congratulations go out to all participants. Thank you to all spectators, organisers, and volunteers who made this running celebration possible. See you next year!
