How can we make the Utrecht region more sustainable, inclusive, and innovative—together? HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht offers a clear answer with its new brand campaign How? HU! Starting June 5, HU is actively positioning itself as a partner for regional collaboration and social impact.

The campaign How? HU! marks the launch of a multi-year brand strategy aimed at strengthening HU’s position as a socially relevant knowledge institution.
Developed in collaboration with Happy Horizon, the campaign emphasizes that HU is a place where education, research, and the professional field converge. Every day, HU works together with businesses, municipalities, and social organizations on solutions to urgent challenges in the areas of sustainability, digitalization, economy, and health.

Crucial for the future

“Especially at a time when we, as a university of applied sciences, must closely examine our expenditures, we believe it is important to strengthen regional collaboration. This is not only crucial for the quality of our education but also for the societal challenges we face together,” says Gerard van Assem, member of the Executive Board. The campaign is an invitation to organizations, governments, and companies—large and small—to collaborate with HU students and researchers on innovative solutions.

Partners of tomorrow

The campaign also speaks to prospective students as our partners of tomorrow. We show them that at HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht, they don’t have to choose between pursuing personal ambitions and making a meaningful contribution to the region—these go hand in hand. Our education offers every opportunity to develop talents and immediately apply them to benefit the region. In doing so, we demonstrate to future students, professionals, and partners what HU stands for.

Where everything comes together

The campaign went live on June 5 across various online channels. Starting in September, a targeted campaign will follow for specific audiences, including students, professionals, and employers. With this, we invite everyone to study, conduct research, work with us—or partner with HU. This is where everything comes together.

UMC Utrecht takes third surgical robot into use

UMC Utrecht has commissioned a third surgical robot. With the arrival of the latest generation, the Da Vinci 5, even more patients can be operated on with minimal stress. This leads to fewer complications and faster recovery. “Apart from the benefits for patients, the Da Vinci 5 also allows us to train even better,” says Jelle Ruurda, gastrointestinal surgeon and professor of robot-assisted minimally invasive surgery. “At the touch of a button, colleagues can watch remotely, and even learn from previous operations. This way we share knowledge faster and more widely.” The hospital is thus building on a tradition of 25 years at the forefront of robotic surgery.
