Celebrating Diversity Day | Intersectionality

On 7 October 2025, nine diversity networks from HU, UMC Utrecht and UU invite you to celebrate Diversity Day with a free symposium on intersectionality, featuring a keynote, workshops, an exhibition and a networking drink.
On Tuesday 7 October 2025 we will celebrate Diversity Day! From 12:00 to 18:00, a symposium will take place with the theme of intersectionality, organized by no fewer than nine diversity networks from Utrecht University of Applied Sciences, UMC Utrecht and Utrecht University.
Alongside a powerful keynote on intersectionality by neurodiversity expert Rosalie Ekstein, you can choose from two rounds of workshops, including sessions on the hidden curriculum, conducting sensitive conversations from an intersectional perspective, culturally sensitive guidance for Caribbean-Dutch students, and training on digital accessibility. There will also be the exhibition Taboe Tabee, the opportunity to have a professional profile photo taken, and even a chance to discover what your aura photo reveals about you. The day concludes with a networking drink where you can meet the diversity networks. Make sure to register in time to secure a spot in the workshop of your choice.

Keynote ‘Neurodiversity: a neuroqueer intersectional perspective’ (ENG)
In this keynote, Rosalie Ekstein (they/them) will take you into the world of gender and sexuality within the neurodiversity movement. The concept of neuroqueer will be introduced and linked to other identities. This intersectional perspective provides insights and practical tools for anyone working on social inequality, HR, or neurodiversity. Rosalie is a sociologist-philosopher, neurodivergent themself (including neuroqueer), and supports organizations in change processes.
The keynote will close with words from John de Wit (Diversity Dean, Utrecht University) and Eva Reuling (Executive Board member, Utrecht University of Applied Sciences).
