The Utrecht Science Park Café at the Princess Máxima Center
On Monday 22 April, the Utrecht Science Park Café took place at the Princess Máxima Center; an impressive place where groundbreaking and passionate work is done everyday together to improve the survival rate and quality of life of children with cancer.
Gita Gallé (Board member and COO/CFO Princess Máxima Center) took us through the origins, developments and growth of the unique Princess Máxima Centre. This was followed by Dr. Bastiaan Tops (Head of Paediatric Oncology Laboratory) explaining DNA sequencing during brain surgery.
Following on from this, Prof Dr Eelco Hoving (Clinical Director Neuro-oncology) explained how various data technologies are used in operations, such as the intra-operative MRI operating room at the Wilhelmina Children's Hospital, which involves close cooperation between the Prinses Máxima Center and the UMC Utrecht. Worldwide, there are only a few places with a similar combination of MRI with OR.
These techniques contribute to the mission of the Princess Máxima Center: to cure every child with cancer, with optimal quality of life.
Another great example of unique and leading developments taking place at the Utrecht Science Park!
