Unique to the Hoofdklasse Hockey league: Kampong Men’s 1 will be sporting the UMC Utrecht & Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital (WKZ) Foundation logo on their shirts this season. The club and foundation hope to further highlight the importance of exercise for a healthy society. While a company name often prominently features, this season’s Kampong Men’s 1 shirt features the UMC Utrecht & WKZ Foundation logo. This is the first time a charity has been so visible in Hoofdklasse Hockey.

Moving Together

Kampong Hockey Board Member Michiel Lamers: “Exercise is an important foundation for a healthy society. At a club like Kampong, we understand this all too well. Regular exercise improves both physical and mental health. With our nearly 3,500 members, from young to old and at all levels, we try to spread this message as widely as possible. This coming season, we want to further strengthen our contribution to a healthy society by highlighting the UMC Utrecht & WKZ Foundation on the Men’s 1st team’s match shirts and various joint initiatives. This is how we take our social responsibility as a club.”

Healthy Society

Jorien Huisman, director of the UMC Utrecht & WKZ Foundation, is delighted with the prominent placement on the Kampong shirts. “Everyone deserves the best care, now and in the future. The UMC Utrecht & WKZ Foundation supports this ambition and makes research and projects for better treatments possible. Prevention or early detection is always better in the end.” That’s why we’re also investing in raising awareness about the importance of self-reflection, exercise, and open conversation. The men of the Men’s 1 team are helping us spread this message.

Social Contribution

Support for the joint campaign is made possible by a contribution from the Rabobank Utrecht and surrounding areas Incentive Fund. Director Hans Benard: “A strong community life and exercise are the backbone of a healthy society. This is an opportunity to do something unique. UMC Utrecht & WKZ Foundation, Kampong Hockey, and Rabobank Utrecht and surrounding areas have been partners before. It’s truly wonderful that we’ve been able to bring this to fruition in this way. A wonderful example of Utrecht collaboration.”
