New events added to Utrecht Science Week programme

Utrecht Science Week takes place from September 26th to October 5th. In recent weeks, several new events have been added to the already extensive programme. Residents, professionals, researchers, and students interested in the themes of health and sustainability can choose from a wide variety of interesting and inspiring events. Below is a selection of some recently added program items.

Monday, September 29th

  • Picture a scientist: film and discussion about the role of women in science, focusing on questions such as: What will the position of women in science look like in Utrecht in 2025? Are there still barriers that need to be broken down, or should we focus on other forms of diversity? And what can aspiring scientists learn from their experienced colleagues? Location: UMC Utrecht, Heidelberglaan 100, Research Café.

  • The 11th Ureka Mega Challenge Final Show. This challenge is a unique, competitive innovation project that stimulates, facilitates, and partially funds the further development and implementation of good ideas in healthcare. Location: UMC Utrecht, Heidelberglaan 100, Groene Collegezaal
  • Lecture: The beauty of decay. In this captivating lecture, microbiologist Jan Dijksterhuis will take you on a journey into the fascinating world of fungi. He will do this based on his research at the Westerdijk Institute in Utrecht. Location: Westerdijk Institute, Uppsalalaan 8.

Thursday, October 2

  • The Veterinary Hospital of the Future, where you’ll get a unique behind-the-scenes look at the only academic animal hospital in the Netherlands. Location: Prof. Dr. H. Jakob Building, entrance Munsterlaan 7.
  • From Zebrafish to Mini-Organs: Visit the Hubrecht Institute. Curious to discover how researchers unravel the mysteries of life, from the very first cell division to complex tissues and organs? During this exclusive tour, the Hubrecht Institute, part of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) and located at Utrecht Science Park, opens its doors to visitors. Location: Hubrecht Instituut, Uppsalalaan 8

Friday, October 3

  • Launch of LABEX USP. LABEX USP is an online platform for exchanging lab materials designed to reduce waste and enable resource sharing at Utrecht Science Park. Location: Utrecht Science Park Foundation, Heidelberglaan 11.
