“Thanks to the Incubator Utrecht Foundation and the setting of the Utrecht Science Park, we can make progress faster”

The Incubator Utrecht Foundation offers biotechnology start-ups the facilities and network to successfully develop and grow their innovative ideas.
Growing as an innovative biotechnology startup isn’t easy. The Utrecht Incubator Foundation supports companies at Utrecht Science Park with workspace, facilities, and a valuable network, enabling them to develop and grow their ideas.
An example is SentryX, which is developing an implantable pain reliever for patients after skeletal surgery. Founder Bas Oosterman: “Thanks to the Utrecht Incubator Foundation and the Utrecht Science Park setting, we’re making progress faster.”
When the coronavirus pandemic temporarily halted development in 2020, the incubator provided SentryX with a home and support in the Alexander Numan Building and the Life Science Incubator (LSI). This allowed the team to continue product development, utilize affordable laboratory and office space, and benefit from the network of specialists.
Bas: “We now have an entire floor with eight laboratories and eight office spaces, where 25 people work. We couldn’t have achieved this without the Utrecht Incubator Foundation and Cora Frijters.”
The incubator also guides startups in environmental and other legislation, coupled with technical requirements, allowing entrepreneurs to fully focus on their innovation. The Incubator Utrecht Foundation houses approximately fifteen companies and serves as a springboard for startups to grow and create space for new ventures.
Cora Frijters, Director of Operations: “We have the facilities, they have the ambition. It’s fantastic to see how startups develop and grow here.”
