Hans Hofstraat strengthens Life Sciences at Utrecht Science Park
From 1 September, Hans Hofstraat will strengthen the Life Sciences ecosystem at the Utrecht Science Park as Director Business Development Life Sciences (part-time). He will be employed by the Utrecht Science Park Foundation and will also strengthen the Life Sciences Strategic Theme. With his track record, knowledge of public-private partnerships and vast network within life sciences, Hans will work to connect, attract and establish innovative private parties within the Utrecht Science Park based on education and research within Utrecht life sciences.
The excellence and breadth of the life sciences ecosystem at the Utrecht Science Park, and the focus on implementation of solutions with proven impact really appeal to me. I hope to contribute to this with my knowledge and experience. I look forward to strengthening the team of the Strategic Theme Life Sciences and of the Utrecht Science Park Foundation.

Hans was Vice President, Senior Fellow and Programme Manager at Royal Philips Currently, among other things, he is active as Entrepreneur-in-Residence in The Institute of Cancer Research in London, as Advisor of the Healthcare Transformation Academy and of some other initiatives in the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) Health, and as member of the Advisory Board of the Dutch Top Sector Life Sciences & Health.
At Philips, he worked with teams in CTO, Business and global Markets on innovative solutions in Oncology, Cardiology, and Neurology, and on universal access to care with specific focus on application in Africa, India and Southeast Asia. Development of new applications took place in close cooperation with clinical partners, in order to optimally combine clinical insights and local conditions and preconditions with the opportunities offered by innovations in medical technology and digital solutions. He was also involved in the creation of a number of start-ups, such as Biocartis and InnoSign, stemming from applications developed by Philips. Hans co-initiated important public-private partnerships, notably EIT Health, a European institute headquartered in Munich, and the Dutch Center for Translational Molecular Medicine (CTMM).
