Utrecht University Botanic Gardens presents together with the Association of Botanical Artists Netherlands the exhibition 'Spot on!' on shade plants. The expo not only highlights this plant group, but also shines a light on (the importance of) botanical art.
Contemporary botanical art builds on a centuries-old tradition in which plants are captured as realistic as possible, which involves hours of observation. Thirty botanical artists have recorded the development of all aspects of 'their' plants throughout the seasons in nature and in various botanical gardens. In total, some fourty species of plants have been portrayed. The drawings can be found throughout the Gardens in large format.
