Utrecht Science Park is very pleased with the establishment of the first European office of the American company ScitoVation. ScitoVation develops innovative in vitro cell-based assays and computational approaches to assess potential health effects of drugs and chemicals. Its team is recognized as leaders in cell-based science and computational models, and its access to knowledge, methods and tools such as software developed through more than $300M of investments in the last 35 years is unlikely to be matched by other competitors. Scitovation already collaborates with the Institute for Risk Assessment Sciences (IRAS), an interfacultary research institute within the faculties of Veterinary Medicine, Medicine and Sciences of Utrecht University.
Utrecht Science Park was the best choice
According to President John Cline, Utrecht Science Park was the best choice for their EU Office. “We explored many different locations within Europe and found the Utrecht Science Park located strategically and adjacent to the University was the best choice for our EU office. Utrecht University has a strong international reputation in the toxicology field. As we strive to implement 21st century approaches to toxicity testing, the Utrecht University appeared to share our vision and we felt that we could have productive exchanges that would forward the next generation of toxicology testing on a global scale.”
Cline is pleased to be associated with Utrecht Science Park and Utrecht University. “Our short term goal is to have our office at the Utrecht Science Park to be our base of operations as we strive to provide cutting edge research for our current and future European clients. Our long term goal is to partner with the Utrecht University to develop new approaches and expand the use of non-animal testing that leads to a healthy and safe environment.”
