From 2 to 22 March, GenDx, a molecular transplant diagnostics company, challenged its employees to get moving for the Prinses Máxima Center and a foundation providing support for disadvantaged children, Stichting Leergeld Utrecht. Well before the deadline, the maximum amount of €5,050 had already been collected by some 40 athletic employees. On Wednesday, 31 March 2021, a €2,525 cheque was presented to each charity.

The GenDx Charity Challenge aims to contribute to the physical and mental health of GenDx employees at a time when (partially) working from home, closed gyms and clubs, and fewer social contacts are affecting life. This activity perfectly reflects how important sharing is to GenDx, which we also consider to be highly significant in the field of transplant diagnostics.
GenDx, located at Utrecht Science Park, is a UMC Utrecht spin-off and thus a true product of Utrecht. We are proud of our ‘origins', leading us to support various local organisations, including Stadsschouwburg Utrecht, and the Histos, Triton, Orca and SPIN sports associations. Prior to the GenDx Charity Challenge, our employees could choose a charity from a list of both local and international initiatives, which led to the Prinses Máxima Center and Stichting Leergeld Utrecht being selected.
Both organisations intend to use the donated money to get children moving too. Stichting Leergeld Utrecht will use the funds for a specific project aimed at helping children from low-income families to pay their sports club fees. At the Princess Máxima Center, the donation will be used for their 'Quality of Life' department. This includes a project called Maximaal Bewegen (utter exercise), which focuses on children with cancer experiencing a quicker and stronger recovery thanks to enough exercise, with distraction and exercise also intended to reduce the stress that children and parents experience during the treatment process.
