On Monday January 18, the Gemeente Utrecht will start working at the Sorbonnelaan, between Weg tot de Wetenschap and Toulouselaan at the Utrecht Science Park. The sewerage will be renewed and the asphalt will be replaced. These activities will be combined. This way the street is closed once. The work will last until mid-April.
Rerouting car traffic
The work is divided into two phases:
- Phase 1: Traffic in the direction of Cambridgelaan will be detoured
The activities will start on January 18 at the part of the Sorbonnelaan between the Weg tot de Wetenschap and Aarhuslaan. The road is then closed. Cars and trucks with destination Cambridgelaan will have to make a detour, via Leuvenlaan and Bolognalaan. Check the rerouting map below and follow the detour signs.
- Phase 2: Traffic does not have to detour
As soon as phase 1 is finished, the activities at the part of Sorbonnelaan between Aarhuslaan and Toulouselaan will be continued. Cars and trucks no longer have to detour. When phase 2 starts, the detour signs will be adjust.
Accessibility for cyclists
The cycling path of the Sorbonnelaan will partly stay accessible during the construction. The cycling path is closed between Aarhuslaan and Toulouselaan. Cyclists will be diverted a little bit via Aarhuslaan, Helsinkilaan and Toulouselaan.
