The 39th Utrecht Marathon powered by Utrecht Science Park will take place on Sunday 19 April 2020. Runners will run past the city’s main landmarks, starting and finishing on Utrecht Science Park where the theme will be Running, Food and Music. In 2020, the Dutch Cancer Society KWF will once again be a partner of Utrecht Marathon.
Distances to suit everyone: one single-lap marathon.
The Marathon circuit (42.195 km) connects various districts of Utrecht, both old and new. A combination of running through the city’s parks, modern districts like Leidsche Rijn and the historic city centre will make for a unique running experience. Music points along the route will transform the Utrecht Marathon into a truly atmospheric Utrecht event. This year once again, participants can run the Half Marathon (21.1 km), the Quarter Marathon (10.55 km) or the Mini Marathon (approx. 1.5 km). And, when the race is over, everyone can relax with a drink, refreshments and music in the food court on Utrecht Science Park. View the routes at www.utrechtmarathon.com

If you work for HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht, Danone Nutricia, Genmab, Prinses Máxima Centrum, Sportcentrum Olympos or one of the other organisations on Utrecht Science Park and you want to run in the marathon, register for the Full Marathon, Half Marathon or Quarter Marathon here, quoting the code USP2020. You will get a free USP Team Run T-shirt and you’ll be invited to the USP community reception where, as well as additional facilities such as massage and cloakroom, you can also enjoy a healthy snack and a drink.
The costs of participating in the USP Team Run are the same per person as the entry fee for the Quarter Marathon. To register a team you must have a team captain. Your team captain will create the team. Click on register.
Businesses and organisations on Utrecht Science Park can create a team through their team captain using the code USPrun.
The individual participants in the team can then register using the code: USP. You can view the handbook here.

Utrecht Science Park
The Utrecht Marathon powered by Utrecht Science Park is more than just a sports event. The scenic route from the science park links the city with the surrounding Utrecht region and fits perfectly with Utrecht’s motto ‘Healthy Urban Living’. Here on Utrecht Science Park, we work together to improve health and quality of life. Together with (knowledge) partners Utrecht University, HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht, UMC Utrecht, the sports centre Sportcentrum Olympos and the Dutch Cancer Society KWF Kankerbestrijding, we sponsor the Utrecht Marathon, as the trigger for a longer, healthier life. Every year through the Utrecht Marathon, KWF collects money for groundbreaking research on Utrecht Science Park.
Utrecht Marathon supports the Dutch Cancer Society KWF Kankerbestrijding. One in three Dutch people will get cancer. Every year, 45,000 people die from the disease. That means that someone is diagnosed every 5 minutes. The same time it takes to run about 1 kilometre. Through the KWF initiative Run for Cancer (Ren tegen kanker), participants in the Utrecht Marathon can register for the quarter, half or full marathon. They will then get a free place and a Run for Cancer shirt. The condition is that you have to collect at least 500 Euros in sponsorship for groundbreaking cancer research on Utrecht Science Park. You can find more information and registration details here.
Running training at Sportcentrum Olympos
You can also train together for one of the Utrecht Marathon runs. Sportcentrum Olympos is offering special running training sessions.
